Installing your custom framebag
In this guide, we're going to walk you through how to install your new Jack's Sacks Custom Frame bag. If you wish to protect your frame, it is best to do so before installing your bag. Speak to you local bike shop for assistance.
If your bag covers any bolt holes, and you are not bolting your bag in, it is recommended to replace those bolts with flat bolts (not included)
Bolt-in
If you chose to bolt in for any part of your bag, start here.
1) Bolts will be located inside your bag. There will be one bolt and one washer for each hole. If you chose bolts for the top tube, there will also be a stiffener inside the bag.
2) Slide the washer over bolt and slide the bolt from the inside to the outside of the bag (the washer goes on the inside)
3) With your fingers, get the bolts started about a turn or two. Once all the bolts are started, go ahead and tighten all them by hand until they are snug.
4) Using a tool, tighten the bolts until they are snug.
Lace up
Before we get started- the name of the game is "snug not tight"
For full frame bags, start at on the seat tube AND down tube near the bottom bracket (there will be two piece of shock cord in your installation kit).
For Half Frame bags and wedge bags, you can start at either end of the top tube. I recommend starting the downtube closest to the bottom bracket and working your way up if applicable.
1) Start by feeding one end into the eyelet on the drive side, and the other on the non drive side going in the direction as seen in the image below.
2) Pull both ends all the way through and be sure they are even before proceeding
3) Begin "lacing" the shock cord around the frame using the eyelets. Same as a shoe. If applicable- I recommend going around the seat tube to pull the corner of your bag...well into the corner of your frame.
4) When you reach the end, slide the cord lock onto the end of the cord. It is sometimes easier to do this one at a time.
5) Now go back to the beginning and pull out the slack. Remember- Snug not tight. If the edges of your bag pull around the frame, you have gone too far
6) Push the cord lock toward the frame to hold the laces in place. You will have extra. Cut off the excess leaving approximately 2-3 inches of slack and carefully burn the ends with a lighter.
Straps
1) Open all straps before putting the bag in the frame
2) Once the bag is installed, gently wrap the straps around the frame. Same as laces, Snug not tight. The edges of the bag should not pull around the frame.
3) Once the straps are installed, you will likely have to trim off some excess.
